Ben Beitel

CEO

Ben Beitel is a visionary: he recognizes the potential in each deal and turns undervalued properties into profitable enterprises, time and time again. Mr. Beitel has over two decades of experience and a proven track record leading acquisitions, dispositions, portfolio and asset management. Mr. Beitel initially built his real estate portfolio by investing in multi-family assets and invests proprietary capital alongside the partners.

As the Beitel Group quickly expanded, Mr. Beitel engaged institutional partners both in the United States and overseas to enable further growth. Over the course of his career, Mr. Beitel has purchased over $2 Billion in real estate and continues to expand and diversify the company’s portfolios. Mr. Beitel is an active member in his community and an ardent supporter of many charities and committees.

Mark Silberstein

MANAGING DIRECTOR, FINANCE

Mark Silberstein is in charge of financing new acquisitions through debt and equity and developing strategic partnerships with lenders and investors – from family offices to institutional partners. Mr. Silberstein’s keen business acumen is critical in arranging and executing insightful and creative financing solutions for the Beitel Group’s new acquisitions.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Silberstein has played an integral role in the growth of the Beitel Group’s portfolios and the facilitation of capital markets transactions. Since joining the firm in 2011, Mr. Silberstein has raised capital for some of the Beitel Group’s largest acquisitions.

Abe Schmalberg

MANAGING DIRECTOR, CFO

Abe Schmalberg is the Beitel Group’s Chief Financial Officer reporting to CEO Ben Beitel. As CFO, Abe oversees the accounting, financial modeling planning and analysis, underwriting, investor relations & internal audit and tax functions.

Abe has significant experience building and leading finance & tax teams in global companies with significant operating scale and complexity, both as an external advisor as well as an internal team member. Abe joined the Beitel Group from KPMG in 2018 where he worked as a manager in KPMG’s real estate and advisory practice. Some of Abe’s previous clients include Tishman Speyer, Blackstone, and Prudential where he advised on acquisitions, sales and tax restructurings, involving opportunity funds, private equity partnerships, and REITS.

Abe is a NYS licensed CPA and holds an MBA with a double major in Finance and Accounting from Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business.

Ben Cohen

MANAGING DIRECTOR, HEAD OF PORTFOLIO ACQUISITIONS

Ben Cohen focuses on expanding the company’s portfolios through the acquisition of new assets. He sources and evaluates value-add investment and development opportunities across the U.S. in the major multifamily and commercial markets.

Mr. Cohen is an accomplished real estate professional with extensive experience within the underwriting and portfolio management functions. Mr. Cohen joined the Beitel Group in 2008, and since then, has coordinated some of the Beitel Group’s most significant acquisitions, with a focus on maximizing and creating value.

Jared Rosenblatt

DIRECTOR, ACQUISITIONS AND DEVELOPMENT

Jared Rosenblatt manages the sourcing and research of potential acquisitions in the commercial market. In underwriting potential investment opportunities for the Beitel Group’s portfolios, Mr. Rosenblatt conducts market research, due diligence, and financial analysis for a wide variety of commercial transactions. Mr. Rosenblatt oversees strategic relationships with brokers.

Mr. Rosenblatt joined the Beitel Group in 2015 from a CPA accounting firm, where his focus was on real estate holdings. Mr. Rosenblatt holds a BA in Accounting from Touro College.

Julien Darmon

DIRECTOR, ACQUISITIONS

Julien Darmon underwrites prospective acquisitions within the Beitel Group’s portfolios, preparing detailed financial models and property-level research for each deal. He uses Argus, CoStar, and Excel, among other tools, to underwrite investment opportunities for various asset classes nationwide.

Prior to joining the Beitel Group, Mr. Darmon worked in commercial brokerage at Cushman & Wakefield, representing New York City office tenants. Mr. Darmon holds a BA degree from The University of Rochester, where he majored in International Relations.

Giovanni Czarecki

INVESTMENT RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, ACQUISITIONS

Giovanni Czarecki focuses on researching and analyzing prospective deals for the Acquisitions Team. Additionally, he identifies local economic, capital, and real estate market indicators for major markets and sectors nationally. Prior to joining Beitel, Mr. Czarecki held an internship with Normandy Real Estate Partners, a privately owned real estate investment manager, developer, and operator located in New Jersey. Mr. Czarecki graduated with a BS in finance and real estate from Colorado State University.

Sara Ziment assists the Acquisitions Team with underwriting prospective deals. She performs detailed analysis of asset business plans using robust financial models in Excel.

Johnny Xayamath specializes in working with different on-site asset teams effectively working in various markets in and out of DC. He works to guide our property asset teams to maximize marketing effectiveness through hands-on sales training and development, working to raise occupancy percentages by elevating property brand awareness, and to streamline residential service quality. Elie Lowenfeld focuses on asset management and is involved in all aspects of hands-on real estate operations and development. Mr. Lowenfeld is an accomplished real estate professional with experience in asset management. Prior to joining the Beitel Group, Mr. Lowenfeld worked at World Wide Group where he managed a portfolio of 1,000 units in New York City and around the country. Mr. Lowenfeld graduated New York University with a BA in Economics and Urban Design.

Haim Mermelstein plays a multi-faceted role, involved in all aspects of hands-on real estate operations and development. He utilizes his broad industry network and extensive experience to develop and implement portfolio and asset strategies for the company. Heavily involved in corporate decisions for every transaction, Mr. Mermelstein oversees all legal, tax, insurance, development, and financing matters. A creative problem solver, Mr. Mermelstein has identified significant cost-saving and value-add solutions for every project, helping to deliver solid returns to the Beitel Group and its partners.

Sandra Barber

SENIOR MANAGER, ASSET MANAGEMENT

Sandra Barber focuses on Asset Management and is involved in all aspects of hands-on real estate operations and development.  Mrs. Barber started in real estate in 1990 and is an accomplished Real Estate Professional receiving multiple apartment industry awards and designations throughout her career.  Prior to joining the Beitel Group, Mrs. Barber worked for Partnership Concepts Realty Management, Inc. as an On-Site Property Manager with a Regional Manager Designation assisting in Property Management, training, sales/acquisitions and was the President of the Northwest Indiana Apartment Council for 5 years.  Mrs. Barber holds a Broker’s License since 1996 through the National Association of Realtors and continues to be a proud member.

Michael Charles

Michael Charles focuses on asset management and is involved in all aspects of hands-on real estate operations and development. Mr. Charles is an accomplished real estate professional with experience in asset management. Mr. Charles oversees the operations of multiple properties to maximize revenue and minimize expenses. Prior to joining Beitel, Mr. Charles worked as an investment analyst for Carroll Organization in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Charles assisted with potential acquisitions in high growth markets and portfolio management. Mr. Charles graduated with a BBA in finance and real estate from Emory University.

Lori Graf

Office Administrator, Development and Construction

Lori Graf assists the Development and Construction team with scheduling, vendor partnerships, procurement, and administrative support.  Prior to joining the Beitel team, Ms. Graf worked for non-profit organizations supporting her community.  During that time, she developed programs and events, wrote grants, maintained fundamental relationships and was vital in the success of the non-profits.  Lori’s forethought and dedication will be a valuable asset to the Beitel team.  Lori holds a M.A. in Public History and a B.A. in Anthropology & History.

Mordy Beitel

VP, DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION

Mordy Beitel is the creative mind and visionary behind the Beitel Group’s new developments. He sources, designs and manages construction projects from inception to completion and oversees the strategic relationships with all parties involved in the construction process, including GC teams, architects, brokers, and third-party vendors. Mr. Beitel supervises the leasing up of the new development properties and maximizing their value.

Mr. Beitel has been involved in the family business from early on and has managed a number of development and redevelopment projects for the Beitel Group, providing oversight of the construction in every stage of the process. With his efforts, the Beitel Group’s development sector is expanding quickly in Brooklyn and nationwide.

Benny Sheinfeld

VP, DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION

Benny Sheinfeld manages development and construction projects in commercial and residential markets. Mr. Sheinfeld develops strategic partnerships with parties involved in the development and construction process for prospective acquisitions preparing property-level research for each deal and then monitors day to day progress. Mr. Sheinfeld collaborates with property managers and construction teams and uses his extensive entrepreneurial experience to drive projects successfully to completion.

Prior to joining the Beitel Group, Mr. Sheinfeld worked as an investment sales broker for Live London Estates, in England, and later at Weissman Realty, concentrating on multifamily buildings in Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx. Mr. Sheinfeld graduated Touro College with a BS in marketing and management.

Jacob Abowitz

SENIOR DIRECTOR, DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION

Jacob Abowitz plays a critical role in developing properties and maximizing their value. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Abowitz has managed the construction of numerous development and redevelopment projects, providing oversight in every stage of the process. Mr. Abowitz has worked with various product types along the risk spectrum, managing projects from inception to completion.

He brings this knowledge to the Beitel Group, where he is a valued member of the team.

James Mohr directs capital projects, improvements, and renovations throughout the Midwest assets. James has been in property management 18 years and has worked throughout the United States in various roles. He has overseen over $500 million in real estate as a National Project Manager, directed multi-million-dollar ground-up construction, renovations, and redevelopment. James’ strong work ethic and ability to overcome challenges has proven him to be an invaluable resource.

Jayson Shanyfelt

Jayson Shanyfelt supports the Directors of Development with leading the construction efforts of multiple multi-family developments across the nation. Mr.Shanyfelt specializes in maintaining client relationships, pre-construction budgets, contract writing and profitability. Prior to joining Beitel, Mr. Shanyfelt has overseen significant capital projects, including unit renovations and working with design and construction professionals to quickly achieve project execution and control costs.

Matt Teitelbaum

Matt Teitelbaum assists the development team with all aspects of real estate development including in coordinating loan draws, forecasting project budgets and cash flows, and managing project deliverables and government approvals. Prior to joining Beitel Group, Mr. Teitelbaum oversaw the scheduling, budgeting, implementation of construction oversight as well as reporting activities for all multifamily projects to ensure completion on schedule and within budget.

Investor Relations & Administrative

Justina DeBruzzi plays a multi-faceted role within our team. With experience in human resources, accounting, and project management she brings prowess to numerous areas of our business. Since July 2021, Ms. DeBruzzi has been an intricate part of our investor relations and administrative teams. After studying at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, and the University of Victoria in Wellington, NZ she moved to New York City to start a career in business. With knowledge from working in the New York City construction industry, Justina provides organization and cohesion in a fast-paced, ever-shifting environment. Having been involved with renovations of high-end hotels, such as the Conrad New York Midtown, The Plaza Hotel, and the Lotte New York Palace, Justina maintains a high quality of detail-oriented attention to all work she puts forth.

Accounting Manager

Jake is an outstanding accountant and great team player who has extensive knowledge and experience in audit and assurance services. At Beitel he utilizes his talent and skill to perform financial review and analytics across the multifamily investment portfolio. Prior to joining the Beitel Group, Jake worked in public accounting as an auditor and provided accounting services to a wide range of businesses in various industries including real estate, private day schools, and health care facilities. Jake also has a unique ability and experience integrating with new technologies and implementing new policies and procedures to increase efficiency. Jake is a New York State licensed CPA and holds a B.A. in Accounting from Touro College.

Director of Tax and Accounting

Prior to joining the Beitel Group, Ari Kessler worked in public accounting providing tax and accounting services to a wide range of businesses with a focus in real estate. Ari is an effective manager and team leader and has considerable experience navigating complex tax and accounting transactions. Ari was successful in implementing processes and procedures for external and internal use to streamline workflows and draw out the intended result in the most efficient way. Ari is proficient in tax research and compliance of federal and state rules and procedures. Ari also has experience in the real estate investment industry providing tax planning services to some of the largest REITS.

Jonathan Amodio

Associate, Accounting

Jonathan Amodio specializes in tracking and assisting analytics at the portfolio level. In addition, Mr. Amodio analyzes budgets and prepares business plans for each property. Prior to joining the team, Mr. Amodio worked as an analyst at Kech Development, a boutique development firm located in New York City, and on several other ventures. Jonathan holds a BBA in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business with a minor in finance.

Hannah Newman focuses on developing and managing relationships with current and prospective investment partners, directing key business development initiatives.

Ms. Newman joined the Beitel Group in 2013, and since then, oversees all areas of operation including asset management, investor relations, construction, HR, IT, marketing and accounting. Ms. Newman provides strong day-to-day leadership without foregoing the long-term vision and growth of the company.
